Frequently Asked Questions

Yes! San Juan Therapeutics is a new company. NCBTMB has a rigorous process for becoming an Approved Provider and requires that each course be given and reviewed by students prior to approval. We will be pursuing NCBTMB approval for all of our courses. If a course you have taken receives approval within a year of the date you took it, you will receive a notification and may use the CE credits toward your NCBTMB certification requirements.

Yes. All of our courses meet the requirements for continuing education credit and can be used toward license renewal and membership renewal for professional organizations such as AMTA, APTA, and ABMP.

Yes! While San Juan Therapeutics, LLC, does not provide physical therapy services directly, you can schedule an appointment for PT with Christine at Tomsic Performance Therapy in Durango, CO. To schedule an appointment, please call the office at 970-259-0574. Christine does not do remote consultation at this time. If you live outside of the area and cannot easily get to Durango, please seek out a qualified practitioner closer to home.

Please bring clean linens and your preferred lubricant (oil, lotion, etc.) to massage CE courses. Please refrain from using fragrances or essential oils, to respect the potential sensitivities of other participants. Tables will be provided unless otherwise specified. It is also advised that you bring a laptop computer or tablet, as all course materials will be provided electronically. If you prefer to take notes on paper, please bring a notebook and pen/pencil.

For massage CE courses, please wear shorts and a sport bra or the equivalent. For yoga workshops, please wear comfortable clothes that you can move and stretch in, preferably not too loose fitting.

As a yoga teacher, Christine is not registered with Yoga Alliance. This is because YA collects yearly fees from both training schools and individual teachers without evaluating the quality of an individual’s work or knowledge (such as a certification exam), and Christine chooses not to support that model. Being a YA Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) is not a necessary requirement to teach yoga, however Christine has the equivalent formal training of a RYT-200 and has had many additional hours of mentorship from experienced yoga teachers.

Christine does believe in the value of membership in legitimate professional organizations. As a massage therapist, she was a member of the Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals, and as a physical therapist she is currently an active member of the American Physical Therapy Association and the Academy of Orthopaedic Physical Therapy.

San Juan Therapeutics does not teach spinal manipulation at this time. Though our courses are open to all types of bodyworkers, the focus is on soft tissue mobilization, i.e. massage. As we expect many of our students to be massage therapists, the content of the courses is limited to skills that are within the scope of practice of this population. According to the Federation of State Massage Therapy Boards, the scope of practice is limited to the assessment and treatment of the soft tissues and does not include mobilization or manipulation of joints, including the spine.

The adorable pup you see featured on the website is Choyu, our companion since 2014. She is named after Cho Oyu, a high mountain in Nepal, which means “Turquoise Goddess” in Tibetan. She’s a beautiful soul and has such a cute face that we figured we should share her with you. We hope she made you smile!
