Dr. Christine Richards, PT, OCS, CMPT

Physical Therapy

Dr. Christine Richards is a full-time clinician in outpatient orthopaedic practice at Tomsic Physical Therapy in Durango, CO. She came to the stunning San Juan Mountains with her husband Tom and dog Choyu after earning her Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy (DPT) from the University of Vermont in 2017. Dr. Richards has a special interest in manual therapy and is a Certified Manual Physical Therapist. She is currently pursuing her Fellowship in Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapy. Her decade of practice as a massage therapist, combined with her continued education centering on advanced assessment and hands-on techniques, places her in a unique position for offering continuing education to massage therapists and other manual therapy practitioners.

San Juan Therapeutics, LLC, is not a physical therapy practice. If you would like to see Christine for PT, please call Tomsic Physical Therapy at 970-259-0574.

Massage

Dr. Richards began her career as a massage therapist, graduating from Hired Hands School of Massage in Chicago, IL, in 2006. She was Board Certified for over ten years, practicing in Illinois, Alaska, California, and Wyoming. She has always taken a special interest in teaching; Christine enjoyed mentoring new massage therapists as early as 2012. While at the University of Vermont, she taught workshops on soft tissue mobilization (massage) to her classmates in the DPT program. Massage is still an integral part of her practice; Christine is passionate about healing through touch and helping other bodyworkers reach their potential.

Yoga

Christine has been an avid practitioner of Yoga and student of yogic philosophy since 2002. She completed her 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training in Thailand in 2011 and studied under the mentorship of Julie Duff in California for four years. Trained in the Ashtanga lineage and informed by her years of study and application of anatomy and kinesiology, Christine makes every yoga class and workshop unique. Safe movement through the asanas (postures) with individual adjustments and promotion of deep understanding is her focus in every workshop.
